1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT is one of approximately 2,900 E-series examples produced through July 1974 and is a European-market car that was imported to the US in the late 1970s. Following time in multiple states and a period of storage, chassis 04022 was acquired by Dino Restoration of Rancho Santa Fe California and refurbished at their shop. Work performed as part of the multi-year project is noted to have involved a bare-metal repaint in Blu Scuro, an interior re-trim in beige leather, and a mechanical overhaul. Power is provided by a 2.4-liter V6 equipped with triple Weber carburetors that is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Further equipment includes an ANSA exhaust system, Koni shocks, and 14" Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels along with Daytona-style seats, a MOMO steering wheel, and a gated shifter. This E-series 246 is now offered in Rockwall, Texas, with a Matthias Bartz Dino Compendium report, manufacturer’s literature, a tool kit. Delivered from the factory in Blu Scuro, the Scaglietti-built bodywork of this example was disassembled, placed on a rotisserie, media blasted, repaired, and repainted as part of the aforementioned multi-year refurbishment completed in 2024. European-market lighting includes flush, clear front turn signals along with round signal repeaters on the front fenders. Carello-branded headlamps, parallel windshield wipers, split chrome bumpers, and a driver-side mirror are further details. The 14" Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels wear Dino-branded center caps and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin XWX tires. A matching spare wheel and tire are stored in the front trunk. The suspension incorporates unequal-length A-arms, coilover Koni shock absorbers, and anti-roll bars up front and out back. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners Daytona-style seats trimmed in beige leather with black accents have been added inside the cockpit, and color-matched upholstery trims the door panels as well as the rear bulkhead. Replacement carpets line the floors, and the dash has been re-covered with a gray “mouse hair” finish. Additional equipment includes a heater, power windows, three-point seatbelts, and headrests mounted to the seatbacks. The leather-trimmed MOMO steering wheel features a Dino horn button and is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter. Dino-branded Veglia Borletti instrumentation consists of a tachometer with a 7,750-rpm redline accompanied by a 270-km/h speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 304 kilometers (~189 miles), and was reset upon completion of the project. Total mileage is unknown. The mid-mounted 2.4-liter Tipo 135CS V6 features a 65° angle between cylinder banks, dual overhead camshafts on each bank, Magneti Marelli ignition, and a trio of two-barrel Weber carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle. Aluminum underbody panels have been added, and the car is equipped with an ANSA exhaust system.
