1962 Nash Rambler
Vehicle Description:
The "Slambler"
This 1962 Rambler Wagon is a fully customized restomod that blends the unmistakable styling of AMC’s compact long-roof with a completely upgraded chassis, modern air suspension, four-wheel stance, custom interior, and a highly detailed engine compartment. Finished in distinctive Standox Cyber Green with a Cool White roof, the exterior was intentionally kept largely true to the Rambler’s original body lines while the mechanicals and interior were transformed underneath.
The chassis was extensively upgraded with a Heidts independent front suspension and an 1986 Chevrolet S-10 rear end located by ladder bar-style control arms. Air Ride Technologies air springs at all four corners provide an adjustable ride height and give the wagon its low, aggressive stance. Braking was upgraded with Wilwood front disc brakes, while an ididit tilt steering column adds modern functionality.
The Rambler rides on staggered Billet Specialties Vintec wheels, measuring 18x8 up front and 20x8 in the rear, wrapped in Nitto tires.
Under the hood, considerable attention was given to both presentation and detail. The firewall was smoothed, custom inner fenders were fabricated, and the engine and surrounding compartment were extensively detailed for a clean, show-quality appearance. The polished components and color-matched finishes carry the exterior theme into the engine bay, while a custom-painted air cleaner adds to the wagon’s unique surf-inspired character.
Inside, the factory-style cabin has been completely reworked. The dashboard was smoothed and painted to match the exterior and fitted with Classic Instruments gauges. Phipps vents were incorporated into the dash for the Hot Rod Air climate-control system, providing modern comfort without taking away from the vintage aesthetic.
Late-model bucket seats, a custom center console, and custom door panels are all finished in pecan-colored Ultraleather. Custom surfer-themed embroidery on the front seats continues the car’s distinctive theme throughout the cabin.
